Famous Yog Guru Ramdev went to the Supreme Court on Wednesday, challenging and seeking protection from the First Information Reports (FIRs) lodged by Indian Medical Association's Patna and Raipur wings.
Multiple FIRs have been filed against him for his comments on efficacy of allopathy in treatment of the coronavirus (Covid-19) disease. He has also sought protection from 'coercive actions' in the FIRs.
Earlier to this, Ramdev had made controversial remarks, saying that he was enjoying the dual protection of yoga and Ayurveda and, therefore, he didn’t opt for vaccination. He had also claimed that the fatalities caused by Covid-19 showed that allopathy was not hundred percent effective.
Ramdev was heard saying in a video last month that he had been practicing yoga-Ayurveda doses, so had not felt the need to get vaccinated. He further said, 'Over 100 crore people of India as well as in foreign countries are in reach of these ancient therapies. In the coming time, Ayurveda will be globally accepted'.
In the video, he had also claimed that a section of society was deliberately ignoring or deeming the Ayurveda to be inferior in comparison to allopathy.
The statement of Ramdev had ignited controversy, and as a result, several FIRs were filed against him by bodies, including Indian Medical Association's Patna and Raipur wings.
