Nepal has remained constant in the 171th position in the latest FIFA ranking published on Thursday.

Earlier to this, Nepal was in the same position on the ranking published on 7 April. From the previous ranking, only the positions of Bahrain and Kirgistan have been changed as Bahrain went one step up to 98 and Kirgistan came one step down to 99.

Team Nepal is now in Iraq to play friendly matches in preparation for the joint selection of the FIFA World Cup and the Asian Cup. Nepal will play against Iraq on Saturday. Iraq is a former Asian champion and is in the 68th position in the FIFA ranking.

In the FIFA ranking, only two south Asian Nations, India(105) and Maldives (155), are in upper positions than Nepal(171).

Among the top ten countries of the FIFA ranking, 7 countries are from Europe and three countries, Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay, are from the south America.

European country Belgium is in the top position. Similarly, France, Brazil and England are in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions respectively.

Rankings are published monthly, usually on a Thursday.
