On Thursday, India found 72,333 new covid cases rising the tally of the positive-tested up to 12,221,665.

According to the latest figures released by the federal health ministry of India, 459 deaths due to covid-19 since the Wednesday morning pushed the death toll up to 162,927 in total.

The number of new covid-19 cases and the death toll in  the past 24 hours in India are the highest of this year so far, as the number of daily cases in the country had come down to below 10 thousands in January. 

On 25-26 January, only 9,102 new covid cases were detected and the number was the lowest in the previous 237 days.  If compared, the number has now increased by nearly 8 times.
