The appeal registered in the supreme court for juducial review on 30 March, 2021 by the chairperson of CPN (Maoist Center), Pushpa Kamal Dahal, is now under hearing as scheduled in the bench of three judges including the chief justice Cholendra Shamser Junga Bahadur Rana.
Other two judges in the bench are justice Tej Bahadur KC and Prakash Kumar Dhungana.
On 23 Falgun, the joint bench of justices Bam Kumar Shrestha and Kumar Regmi had given verdict on the issue related to the similarity between the name of the previously registered Rishi Kattel's 'Communist Party of Nepal' and the 'Communist Party of Nepal(CPN)', which was then newly formed having merged the two parties, the CPN(UML) and the CPN(MAOIST CENTER). The court's decision made the united party separate again into two parties as they were before stating that the unification process including the name and party registration in the election commission was not legal.
Unsatisfied to the verdict given to separate the unified party, the Head Leader of the CPN(MAOIST CENTER) Mr. Dahal had appealed to the supreme court on Monday for a judicial review against the verdict. If the court today decides to grant permission, the file will be opened again for a judicial review.
Otherwise, the chapter will be closed.
