World's richest persons have started space race. In this new course, Jeff Bezos, the richest person in the world, is set to join the astronaut club Tuesday on the first crewed launch by Blue Origin.

Earlier to this, Virgin Galactic founder Richard Branson crossed the final frontier. However, Blue Origin's sights are set higher.

Bezos founded the Blue Origin in 2000. Its goal was to build one day a floating space colonies with artificial gravity where millions of people would work and live. The company is now developing a heavy-lift orbital rocket called New Glenn and also a Moon lander. It is hoping to contract to NASA under the Artemis program.

New Shepard will blast off at 8:00 am Central Time (1300GMT) on 20 July from a remote facility in the west Texas desert called Launch Site One, nearly 25 miles (40 kilometers) north of the nearest town, Van Horn. The event is said to be live streamed on BlueOrigin.com beginning an hour and a half before.

In the flight, barrier-breaking female aviator Wally Funk, who is 82 years old, is also joining Bezos. She is going to be the oldest ever astronaut. Likewise, Dutch teenager Oliver Daemen, the company's first paying customer, who will become the youngest astronaut to date. The fourth member of the four-member crew will be Jeff Bezos' brother Mark, who directs the Bezos Family Foundation and works as a volunteer firefighter.

The crew will spend a few minutes beyond the Karman line -- the internationally recognized boundary between Earth's atmosphere and space, at 62 miles altitude (100 kilometers), as the spacecraft peaks at 65 miles high (106 kilometers).

Unlike Virgin Galactic, as reported, Blue Origin hasn't officially started selling tickets.

The company has planned two more flights this year and several other flights in 2022.

Along with Bezos, SpaceX founder Elon Musk and Virgin Galactic founder Richard Branson have appeared on the frontline of the race.
