Kolkota Knight Riders (KKR) has made a glorious start in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The team defeated the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) with 10 runs on M Chitambaram Stadium at Chennai on Sunday.
After losing the toss, KKR was offered to bat first. With the half-century contributions of Nitish Rana and Rahul Tripathi, KKR had scored 187 runs in total.
KKR's Prasidh Krishna took 2 wickets whereas Shakib Al Hasan, Pat Cummins and Andrew Russel each had taken a single wicket.
Despite Manish Pandey and Jonny Bairstow's half centuries for the team, the SRH could not meet the target by collecting only 177 runs losing 5 wickets in all 20 overs.
In the match, Nitish Rana of KKR hit 4 sixes and 9 fours while collecting 80 runs in 56 balls. Rahul Tripathi was successful to make 53 runs for his team in 29 balls with the help of 7 boundaries: 2 sixes and 5 fours.
Batting to follow the target, Pandey had scored 61 runs in 44 balls playing 3 sixes and 2 fours. Similarly, Bairstow had hit 3 sixes and 5 fours to score 55 runs for the team.
Rashid Khan and Mohammad Navi had taken 2/2 wickets for SRH, whereas, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan had taken 1 wicket each for the team.
Nitish Rana(KKR) became the player of the match. He had scored 80 runs in 56 balls.
