In the capital of Myanmar, more than 82 civilian protesters were killed in a single day on Saturday by the security forces.

International news agencies say, quoting to the local media, security forces had used grenades and guns over the peaceful protesters at the Bago city lacated to the north-east part of Yangon. 

The local media said the security forces had made pile of dead bodies that the eye-witnesses saw while loading on to the vehicles. Hundreds of people were reported to be fleeing away from home.

Agencies claim that 618 people have been killed there since the violence began after the last February's coup by the military.

However, the spokesperson of the junta government, during a press meet on Friday, rejected the data and claimed that only 248 protesters had met to death. 

He further added 16 security personnell were also killed in the violence till the date. The spokesperson denied the allegations of using fatal weapons like machine guns and grenades saying the security forces had not used any automatic weapons against the protesters. 

Because of the unrest and uncertainty, gathering informations and collecting news about the violence, agencies say, is difficult. Just before a week, the  ministerial level meeting of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) was held virtually, where the burning issue of the Myanmar violence had not been entered into.
